About Our Club

The HSV Owners Club of Victoria

Origins

The club now known as the HSV Owners Club of Victoria (Incorporating HDT) originally formed in February of 1986 as the HDT Owners Club. This club grew quickly and formed close ties with the HDT factory, with Peter Brock as the club’s first patron.

However, the Brock era was short lived, and when Holden replaced its performance arm with HSV, the decision was made to open club membership to HSV owners. This led to a similar relationship with the HSV factory, dealers and the HRT / Walkinshaw racing team. Even after the closure of Holden & HSV, the links with many people from the motor industry have been maintained to this day.

These relationships can be seen today with the club regularly inviting special guests to speak at the club’s monthly general meetings. Tours of industry sites such as race teams, dealerships, performance & detailing businesses are also occasionally organised for the benefit of the club members.

Show ‘n’ Shine & Social Events

The club offers Show ‘n’ Shine, Cruises or Social events organised by the club committee for members on most weekends of the year. This gives members lots of opportunities to share experiences together during each year.  These events include:

  • Regular Show ‘n’ Shine events throughout the year, including Motorex, Torquay Motor Show, Showcars Melbourne Showdown, Australian National Show ‘n’ Shine in Euroa and many more.
  • Organised social activities including scenic drives, weekend lunches, social coffee mornings and weekends away.
  • Club members are kept informed of planned activities through our member only Facebook page and high quality monthly club magazine.

Club Motorsport

Over the years the club has been known for conducting motorsport experiences.

This can include motorsport activities such as come & try track days to allow members to enjoy driving their cars on Victorian racing circuits.  But it can also include fun & competitive motorsport events such as motorkhanas and timed sprint sessions that allow owners to explore the performance potential of their cars in a safe enviroment.

The HSVOC is affiliated with Motorsport Australia, which provides training and support to our club to ensure that our events are conducted in a safe and controlled manner.

Our club also organises displays and social gatherings at motorsport events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix and the Sandown 500.

Guest Speakers & Industry Site Tours

Our club’s relationships with the motor trade continues to be strong with the club regularly inviting special guests to speak at the club’s monthly general meetings.  Guests such as Supercars drivers, team engineers, engine performance specialists, ex Holden executives, automotive art creators, the Victorian Police have all been speakers at our general meetings in the last year.

Tours of industry sites such as race teams, dealerships, performance & detailing businesses are also occasionally organised for the benefit of the club members.

The club also recieves requests from businesses to conduct car displays with our members cars at their premises.
